This photographic guide to the birds found in the Chagos Archipelago, including chapters on human impact, conservation, birdwatching and identification of the 50 most common species, and a chapter on recent seabird research conducted there. Originally published in its first edition with the title A Guide to the Birds of the British Indian Ocean Territory.
Pete Carr first visited the Chagos in 1996 as a serving Royal Marine Commando, he ended his thirty-three years in the military with a two year tour on Diego Garcia. During those final two years he visited every island in the Archipelago at least once and the Important Bird Areas over five times. He is now employed on Diego Garcia as the Environmental Manager for the Base Operating Service Contractor, where his interests in the natural history of the Chagos continues.
