The Song Meter Mini 2 AA is an acoustic passive recorder for the long-term recording of birds, frogs and other vocal species. This is the upgraded model that could be considered to be the successor of the popular SM4 from Wildlife Acoustics, offering similar specifications at a considerably reduced price and a smaller size. A big difference, however, is that the Song Meter Mini can be operated via a smartphone or tablet with a BlueTooth connection. It also sends interim updates via the same connection to the free app on your device. You can download the "Song Meter Mini Configurator" app for free via Google Play or the Apple App store. For further processing and analysis of your data, you can use the Kaleidoscope software. The Song Meter Mini has an optional second output so that you can also record in stereo.
This second version of the Song Meter Mini has doubled its deployment thanks to a newly designed housing. Achieve up to 420 hours of deployment by using just eight AA alkaline or NiMH rechargeable batteries. Plus, you have the flexibility to deploy with either four or eight batteries to suit your needs. The Song Meter Mini 2 AA features a redesigned, hinged, and lockable lid, providing convenient and secure access to your recorder. In addition, there is a tripod mount added to the backside of the housing and has a weatherproof rating of IP67.
For an even longer operating time, you can also opt for the Song Meter Mini 2 Li-ion. This Song Meter Mini uses 6 lithium batteries, allowing the detector to record for up to 1040 hours.
