This Kowa Spotting Scope TSN-55S Prominar including 17-40x eyepiece is ultra-compact and has unprecedented clarity. The use of the same optical technology as the famous TE-11WZ II eyepiece, which provides a nice enlargement of the field of view. This telescope has fluorite crystal optics, while the light housing weighs 965 grams and is 25.5 centimeters long.
The telescope comes with a fixed twist-up eyepiece with a magnification of 17-40x. The twist-up system ensures that both glasses wearers and non-glasses wearers can use the telescope. The TSN-55S has a close focus and can be focused at 2.8 meters. This makes the TSN55-S suitable for bird watching, as well as viewing flowers and insects.
Fluorite crystal "Prominar" lens
Chromatic aberration occurs due to the spread of light and the different wavelengths of light concentrating at different positions, which can result in a colored fringe around the subject. The optimal optical material to minimize chromatic aberration is fluorite crystal. A fluorite crystal with extremely low dispersion characteristics is used for the convex lens of the TSN-55A/55S. Instead of a regular optical glass lens, the concave lens in combination with the fluorite crystal lens is made of glass with special dispersive properties. This further reduces chromatic aberration. This combination virtually eliminates chromatic aberration and redefines the standards for color brilliance. Kowa only uses this type of crystal in the top models such as this TSN-55A and TSN-55S.
Available in 2 variants
The Kowa TSN-55 spotting scope is available in two variants, this model has a straight view. A straight view is often used in a lying or kneeling position. This straight model is also nice from a viewing hut or car. A 45° angle view (TSN-55A) is mainly used in a sitting position. The straight model is also very suitable when you view from a viewing hut or from a car. Here you will find the model with a 45 degree angle here.
Important features Kowa Spotting Scope TSN-55S Prominar
- 55mm large fluorite crystal lens
The fluorite used as an optical lens is an artificially grown single crystal with "ultra-low dispersion", a property that ordinary optical glass does not have. It is an ideal lens material that almost completely eliminates chromatic aberration (color blur). The fluorite crystal produced by the advanced processing technology that Kowa has built up over the years guarantees the ultimate viewing experience. - Coating
The unique optical coating is also applied to the prism in addition to the lenses. In this way, an even higher light transmission is achieved. The result is a spotting scope that delivers even higher levels of light wavelength transmission than its predecessor and that also provides nature's most natural color across the entire color spectrum. - Double focus mechanism (fast and fine focusing)
This fast focus, with a large and easy-to-turn knob, will focus from infinity to five meters in two turns. The fine focus, with smooth movements and precise precision, is extremely useful at high magnifications and digiscoping. - Completely Waterproof and Nitrogen Proof
The body is completely sealed to protect it. The robust construction can withstand the toughest conditions. This gives confidence and a feeling of security. - KR Coating
The objective lens benefits from improved protection provided by the KR Coating, which has undergone an upgrade. This KR Coating actively repels dirt, moisture and dust from the surface. - Sun hood
A smoothly rotating lens hood helps eliminate sun glare and also reduces exposure of the objective lens to the elements, such as moisture, grit and sand. - Tripod mount
The tripod mount has a removable screw that allows the spotting scope to be attached to 1/4" and 3/8" tripod heads. With the tripod screw in place, the holder can be used on 1/4" tripods. By removing the screw, the spotting scope can be mounted on 3/8" tripods. The orientation of the spotting scope can be easily changed with the push of the lock button if you want to change the viewing position. - Strong, lightweight and portable
Thanks to the polycarbonate housing, the TSN-55 Prominar series is a strong material, which means it is more resistant to bumps and shocks, which extends its lifespan. It can withstand weather conditions such as rain, snow and extreme temperatures. This makes the spotting scope suitable for use in all environments and seasons. In addition, polycarbonate is easy to clean, even with cleaning products. - Filter thread
On the body of the TSN-55S there is a 58mm filter thread that allows the addition of a protection or UV filter for better protection.
The lens hood can even be used with a Kowa filter. - 10 year warranty
