The Kowa Spotting Scope TSN-66A Prominar is a compact variant with the same fluorite crystal lenses and coatings as the well-known TSN-88A. So you are assured of even higher light transmission resulting in a spotting scope that delivers even higher levels of light wavelength transmission than comparable 66mm objective lens models. It provides nature's most natural colour across the entire colour spectrum.
In addition to its compact size, you benefit from a lower weight due to a 100% magnesium alloy body and it is also stronger overall. So the TSN-66A is easy to carry and has a fully waterproof and nitrogen-filled body. An upgraded Kowa KR coating on the optics makes the scope incredibly reliable and robust.
Like the TSN-88 and TSN-99 variants, the body features a pure fluorite crystal lens which, when combined with a Kowa XD lens, delivers superior low-light performance. This special combination, plus enhanced optical coatings virtually eliminates chromatic aberration, even at high magnification. Because the TSN-66A is equipped with a dual focusing mechanism, the image can be quickly and accurately focused with just your index finger - in just a few fluid revolutions. The fine focusing mechanism provides the final control to view the image razor-sharp.
Kowa TSN-66A Prominar
You are now looking at the Kowa TSN-66A Prominar spotting scope. Note that you still need to add your own eyepiece. You can choose between a Kowa TE11WZ II with 25-60x magnification or the TE-80XW. The TE-11WZ II is a zoom eyepiece with a magnification of 25-60x, while the TE-80XW has a fixed magnification of 35x, but with a wide angle of no less than 80°. The large field of view makes this eyepiece ideal for digiscoping!
Both eyepieces are fully waterproof and feature a three-position Twist-up eyepiece ring. This allows you to adjust the distance between your eye and the eyepiece. Thus, both glasses and non-glasses wearers have a pleasant viewing experience.
Fluorite Crystal "Prominar" Lens
Chromatic aberration occurs due to the diffusion of light and the different wavelengths of light that concentrate at different positions, which can result in a red or purple border around the subject. The optimal optical material to minimize chromatic aberration is Fluorite Crystal. For the convex lens of the TSN-66A/66S, a Fluorite Crystal with extremely low dispersion characteristics is used. Instead of an ordinary optical glass lens, the hollow lens in combination with the Fluorite Crystal lens is made of glass with special dispersive properties to further reduce chromatic aberration. This combination virtually eliminates chromatic aberration and redefines the standards for color brilliance.
Fluorite crystal is only used in the top models of Kowa.
Key features Kowa TSN-66A Prominar:
- 66mm large fluorite crystal lens
The fluorite used as an optical lens is an artificially grown monocrystal with "ultra-low dispersion", a property that ordinary optical glass does not have. It is an ideal lens material that almost completely eliminates chromatic aberration (colour blurring). The fluorite crystal produced by the advanced processing technology Kowa has built up over the years guarantees the ultimate viewing experience. - Dual focus mechanism (Quick and fine focusing)
The fast focus, with a large and easy-to-turn knob, will focus in two revolutions from infinity to five meters. The fine focus, with smooth movements and great precision, is extremely useful at high magnifications and for digiscoping. - Fully Waterproof and Nitrogen-Proof
The body is completely sealed to protect it. The robust construction can withstand the toughest conditions. This provides confidence and a sense of security. - KR Coating
The objective lens benefits from enhanced protection by the upgraded KR coating. The KR coating actively repels dirt, moisture and dust from the surface. - Sun shade
A smoothly rotating sun shade helps eliminate glare and also reduces the exposure of the objective lens to the elements, such as moisture, grit and sand. - Eyepiece release button
To release the eyepiece smoothly, the release button has been redesigned. This makes it even easier to quickly change the eyepiece or adapter without compromising a secure connection to the body. - Strong, lightweight and portable
Thanks to a 100% magnesium alloy body, the TSN-66 Prominar series is one of the most compact and lightweight spotting scopes of its size. A fully waterproof and nitrogen-sealed housing plus Kowa KR coating on the optics makes the spotting scope reliably robust.
Another great advantage of magnesium alloy is that there is no turbulence in the body. The light rays pass straight through the body and the image is incredibly quiet. - Filter thread
There is a 72mm filter thread on the body of the TSN-66A, which can be used to add a protective or UV filter for enhanced protection.
The sun shade can still be used even with a filter. - Designed for digiscoping
100% compatible with the KOWA SYSTEM. Easily change eyepieces, accessories and use digiscoping adapters for DSLR cameras and smartphones. Create a truly flexible optical instrument for many applications. - 10-year warranty
