Application
The ANS-5 Bat Box is suitable for bat colonies all year round. This boxis easy to hang from trees with the hanging bracket. The ANS-5 is a typical round box for larger groups of bats. The cabinet is made of wood concrete. This not only ensures a good indoor climate, but also a high degree of sustainability.

Material
The ANS-5 is made of durable wood concrete. This is a natural material without chemical additives. The wood fiber comes from a local sawmill in Poland. The box is painted with an ecological dark green paint. Due to the rough surface that is so characteristic of wood concrete, the bats have a lot of grip and can easily move around in the box. Wood concrete also has the advantage of keeping the temperature in the box stable. The ANS-5 requires little maintenance. All excrement automatically fall from the bottom of the box. If necessary, the cabinet can be opened at the bottom. This bat box is also characterized by a low heat loss, resulting in a microclimate that is ideal for bats.
Placement and Assembly
The ANS-5 Bat Box can easily be hung on a tree by using the specially shaped wire supplied. Hang the box at least 4 to 5 meters high. Preferably choose a sunny, sheltered spot, without risk of direct rain coming in. Do not place the box under or in artificial light. If there is enough space, we recommend hanging a few boxes together.

Experiences
The ANS-5 has been used and researched by the University of Opole (Poland) since 2016. In the winter of 2016/2017, 10 boxes of the ANS-5 type were hung in the forest areas of the Opole Forest District, at a distance of about 70-100 meters and at a height of about 4 meters above the ground. In 2017 and 2018 these boxes were checked several times in the period from July to September. Two species of bat were found: the little pipistrelle bat (Pipistrellus pygmaeus) and the rough pipistrelle bat (Pipistrellus nathusii). In both years, the most common species was the little pipistrelle bat. Singles and social groups of up to 9 individuals were found. Occupation was typical of forest areas in Poland and amounted to 6 to 17% of the boxes handled per check. In total, bats were found in 25% -30% of the hung boxes in one season. The boxes turned out to be durable in use. During the first three years, no technical defect or other damage was found to any of the boxes.
